Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships

 

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarships are available for bachelor, master, one-tier master, doctoral and non-degree programmes (preparatory and specialization courses).
The scholarships include tuition-free education, monthly stipend, accommodation, and medical insurance.
The application for scholarships begins on 1st January 2016 and ends on 1st March, 2016.
The required documents for the application are the following:

3- Motivation Letter
4- Language Proficiency
5- School Certificates and their notarized English or Hungarian translation
6- Medical Certificate
7- Copy of passport
8- Research Plan (applicants for doctoral programmes).
9- Letter of Recommendation (applicants for doctoral programmes).
10 - Portfolio (applicants of Painter, Graphic artist and Sculptor study programmes).
11 - Audio Portfolio (applicants of study programmes in the field of Music)
 
Please note that on the 11th January 2016 the Office of the Hungarian Cultural Counsellor is going to hold an Information Day on the scholarship. The schedule of the day is planned as following:
 
- from 11 am to 12: presentation of the scholarship
- from 12 to 2 pm: Q&A
- from 6 pm to 7 pm: presentation of the scholarship (repetition of the morning session)
- from 7 pm to 9 pm: Q&A

SCHOLARSHIPS POSSIBILITIES OFFERED BY HUNGARY TO EGYPTIAN CITIZENS

 

2015-2016

 

1) HUNGARIAN SCHOLARSHIP BOARD: http://www.scholarship.hu/Englishsite/Generalinformation/tabid/185/language/en-US/Default.aspx

During the current academic year the following scholarships can be applied (for the summer of 2016 and the academic year of 2016-2017):

A - semester/partial studies (3-10 months)

Available for: undergraduate (BA/BSc) and graduate (MA/MSc) students (enrolled at foreign higher education institutions), especially those majoring in Hungarian Language and Literature and students participating in a single degree track university programme (such as General Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Studies, Veterinary Studies, Architecture, Studies in Law, etc.). Before application, students are required to have completed minimum two semesters at their home institutions. For ‘Type A’ scholarship students may apply only on one occasion during their Bachelor’s studies, and once during their Master’s studies.

B - postgraduate studies, research (3-21 days or 1-10 months)

Available for: applicants holding a Master’s degree or an equivalent university degree, including PhD students who intend to do research for their dissertation and wish to stay in Hungary for less than 10 months. (However, PhD students cannot earn credits during the scholarship period at the host university.)

C/1 - full PhD programme (36 months)

The scholarship is conditional upon successful entrance exam/admission to the respective Hungarian doctoral school.

C/2 - partial PhD studies (10 months)

Applicants must be enrolled in a PhD programme at an accredited higher education institution in their home country or in a foreign country (but not in Hungary).

D - postdoctoral studies, research (1-10 months)

Applicants must hold a PhD or an equivalent degree.

E - research stay (3-21 days or 1-10 months)

Available for applicants who hold minimum a PhD or an equivalent degree.

 

F - summer courses in the summer of 2015 (2-4 weeks)

 

GENERAL PRECONDITIONS:

 

You can NOT APPLY in following cases:

 

 Foreign citizens with an immigration/national settlement permit or in the course of applying for such a permit in Hungary

 Foreign citizens with permanent residence in Hungary

 Foreign citizens employed on a permanent basis as defined by the Hungarian Labour Law

 Students in employment applying for part-time or correspondence study programmes

 

Age limit for applicants:

 

 Applicants for semester/partial studies (type A) must be under 30.

 Applicants for postgraduate studies (type B) must be under 40.

 Applicants for PhD scholarships (types C1 and C2) must be under 35.

 Applicants for postdoctoral scholarships (type D) must be under 45.

 

There is no age limit for the following types of scholarships:

 

 research stay (type E)

 summer university course (type F).

 

GENERAL PROVISIONS

 

Scholarships offered by the HSB allow for studies or research in any field of arts or sciences at an accredited Hungarian higher education institution or research institute to be determined in advance.

 

Those who wish to apply for semester/partial and postgraduate studies as well as doctoral programmes (full-time or part-time) can only pursue ministerial scholarship studies in Hungarian. (Scholarship awarded by the Minister responsible for education in Hungary) Tuition fee is covered by the Hosting Party.

 

For ’type A scholarship’ students may apply only on one occasion in the course of their Bachelor’s studies, and once during their Master’s studies. Type A (semester/partial studies) and type C1/C2 (full PhD and partial PhD studies) scholarships cannot be extended. Type B (postgraduate studies), D (postdoctoral studies, research), and E (research stay) scholarships may be extended exceptionally, only under special circumstances, on one occasion. The request for the extension of the research stay must be submitted to the HSB Office one or maximum two months ahead of the beginning of the planned extension.

 

HSB scholarships are valid only for studies and research purposes in Hungary. Scholarship-holders must stay in Hungary during the entire period of their studies or research.

 

Scholarships are awarded for the summer of 2015 or the academic year 2015/2016 and must be finished by 30 June 2016 at the latest.

 

A list of the national scholarship authorities (‘Foreign Partners’), the list of summer university courses as well as other useful information can be found on the HSB website (www.scholarship.hu). Scholarships are awarded by the Hungarian Minister responsible for education based on the decisions of the Hungarian Scholarship Board. The list of successful applicants for the different types of scholarships is expected to be published on the HSB website in the course of June and July 2015. Applicants will be informed on the result in an official letter posted or sent via e-mail. The HSB office shall not accept appeals against the decision.

 

FINANCIAL PROVISIONS:

 

A - semester/partial studies (3-10 months)

 HUF 40 460 stipend per month, paid by the host institution*; student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder.

 

B - postgraduate studies, research (3-21 days or 1-10 months)

 HUF 79 200 stipend per month and HUF 70 000 accommodation allowance per month. These amounts are paid by the Balassi Institute HSB Office.

 

C/1 - full PhD programme (36 months)

 HUF 100 000 stipend per month paid by the host institution*; student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder

 

C/2 - partial PhD studies (10 months)

 HUF 100 000 stipend per month paid by the host institution*; student hostel accommodation in a university residence hall paid by the scholarship-holder**

 

D - postdoctoral studies, research (1-10 months)

 HUF 118 800 stipend and HUF 80 000 accommodation allowance per month, paid by the Balassi Institute HSB Office.

 

E - research stay for high-ranking academics (3-21 days or 1-10 months)

 HUF 118 800 stipend and HUF 80 000 accommodation allowance per month. These amounts are paid by the Balassi Institute HSB Office.

 

F - summer course (2-4 weeks)

 Tuition-free course, free accommodation and meals.

 

The announcement of this type of scholarships is expected every year by November. The deadline for application is normally the first week of March. 2) STIPENDIUM HUNGARICUM: http://www.tka.hu/international-programmes/2966/stipendium-hungaricum/

 

The “Stipendium Hungaricum” Scholarship Program was founded by the Hungarian Government in 2013. Scholarships can be applied by citizens of those countries that have a valid/effective bilateral educational work plan agreement signed by the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources. The pre-selection of the candidates is carried out by the Ministry of Education of the given country or by the scholarship board appointed by that ministry. Hungary through the Tempus Public Foundation offers scholarships for foreign nationals who intend to pursue their full BA/BSc, MA/MSc or undivided MA or PhD studies in Hungarian state accredited higher education institutions.

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

 

If the language of instruction is a foreign language, applicants need to know the given language on a level that is required by the host institution.

 

If the language of instruction is Hungarian, students shall participate in a one-year preparatory course provided by the Balassi Institute before starting their higher education studies. During that year the Hungarian language as well as subjects related to the chosen field of the future studies will be taught.

 

GENERAL PROVISIONS

 

The scholarships are valid for studies in Hungarian state universities or state colleges, for studies in scientific fields defined in the effective bilateral educational work plans with Hungary.

 

The scholarships awarded for BA/BSc, MA/MSc and for one-cycle, undivided MA programs may be extended in accordance with the actual law in force. The duration of the PhD programs can not be extended in accordance with the actual law in force. The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships are valid only for studies in Hungary. Scholarship-holders must stay in Hungary during the entire period of their studies or research. If necessary, scholarship holders may leave for one, maximum for two months at a stretch. In case of longer absence, the scholarship holder may lose his/her ministerial scholarship status.

 

Candidates are supposed to choose the target universities.

 

FINANCIAL PROVISIONS

 

Relevant for every scholarship holder:

 

 tuition-free course

 monthly stipend

 the higher education institutions may offer dormitory places - according to the dormitory capacity of the given institution – or and amount of HUF 30 000 will be provided to the student for accommodation costs

 medical insurance

 The stipend per month – for 12 months – will be granted by the host institution. The amount of the scholarship - according to the actual law in force - is HUF 40 460 per month in the case of BA/BSc, MA/MSc and undivided, one-cycle MA programs, and it is HUF 100.000 per month for PhD students.

 

The announcement of this type of scholarships is expected every year by February. The deadline for application is normally the first week of April.
